Deuteronomy 1:28-30 28Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there. 29Then I said unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them. 30The LORD your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes.
In Deuteronomy Chapter 1, Moses is talking to the Children of Israel regarding the land of the Amorites. He has let them know that the Lord has prepared the land of the Amorites for them. The Lord has blessed them with this land. But, the Children of Israel were discouraged and did not believe Moses. They murmured and feared that the Lord had forsaken them and would be attacked by the Amorites. In the above passage of scripture, the Children of Israel, express their doubt and discouragement to Moses. And Moses lets them know that they need not be discouraged or afraid; that the Lord will take care of them. And the same message applies to us today. We need not be afraid of Satan, his devices, or our enemies. Just as the Lord promised to take care of the Children of Israel, He will take care of us. We have no need to be discouraged or frightened for the Lord is with us!! Although we become discouraged at times, we have no reason to surrender to defeat. When the Lord has told us that He is on our side and will take care of us, defeat is not a part of our destiny!! So, as you apply this lesson to your everyday life, remember, that we will become discouraged at times; but, do not allow Satan’s discouragement to turn into defeat!! We will not be defeated with God on our side; instead, Satan will be defeated! We have the VICTORY!!!
Thank you for sharing another week of Soul Food with me!! I hope you learned more from God’s Word about discouragement. In keeping Him first, which includes having faith in Him, we know that discouragement should not turn into defeat. Instead, when we keep in first, Satan will be defeated!! Again, the addition of the Meditation Log to our weekly studies should serve as a way for self examination and helping us to apply the scriptures to our everyday lives. As you go into your weekend, I encourage you to continue your thoughts in your Meditation Log on discouragement. For continued study, I have listed additional scriptures below on encourgement. Have a safe and blessed weekend family. I look forward to another week of study!! Next week, our topic for study is: Loving, Caring, Sharing.
